# Plans and features

> Referly plans compared: Startup, Business, Agency, and Enterprise pricing, affiliate and revenue limits, team seats, the full feature matrix, the 14-day free trial, add-ons, and how to change or downgrade your plan.

Referly has three plans you can buy yourself — **Startup**, **Business**, and **Agency** — plus an invite-only **Enterprise** plan. Every plan includes affiliate tracking, the affiliate portal, and every integration Referly offers. What changes between them is how much you're allowed to track each month, how many people can help you run it, and how much of Referly you can put your own name on.

This page is the full reference: what each plan includes, exactly where it stops, and what happens when you reach a limit.

To see the plan you're on right now, open **Settings** from the left sidebar, go to **Billing**, then select **Subscription**.

## The plans at a glance

Yearly plans are billed once a year and work out to two months free, so the yearly column shows the effective monthly cost.

<Note>
  You may also see an older **Indie** plan on your account at $29 / month. It's no longer sold, but if you're already on it you keep it: 1 affiliate program, 150 affiliates, 200 referrals a month, $5,000 of tracked revenue a month, and 1 seat. Once you move off Indie you can't move back.
</Note>

## What each number actually counts

The four meters on your **Subscription** screen are the limits that decide whether Referly keeps tracking. Getting them right matters more than the feature list, because these are the ones that stop your program mid-month.

### Referrals per month

A referral is one person who arrives through an affiliate link or coupon and gets recorded on your account. The counter covers every affiliate program on your account added together, and it resets to zero on the first day of each calendar month — not on your billing date. On Business and above it's unlimited.

### Tracked revenue per month

This is the total value of the sales attributed to your affiliates in the current calendar month, across all your programs. It is not your company revenue and it is not what you pay Referly — it's only the sales your affiliates drove. Like referrals, it resets on the first of the month. Agency and Enterprise have no cap.

### Affiliates

The total number of affiliates on your account, counted across every program. Unlike referrals and revenue, this one never resets — it's a running total of everyone who has joined. Business and above are unlimited.

### Affiliate programs

How many separate affiliate programs you can run from one account. Each program has its own affiliates, links, commissions, and portal. Startup gives you 2, Business 10, Agency and Enterprise 15.

### Team seats

How many people can log into your Referly account, including you. Startup is a single seat, Business gives you 5, and Agency and Enterprise are unlimited. See [team members](/docs/help-center/settings/team/members) for how roles and program access work.

<Info>
  Coupon tracking and auto-generated codes are the two tracking features the retired Indie plan doesn't include. If you're on Indie and want to reward affiliates with discount codes, you'll need Startup or higher.
</Info>

### Support

Every plan includes email support and access to the Discord community. Business, Agency, and Enterprise also include developer support for setting up your tracking, at no extra cost. On Startup, developer support is available as a paid service.

## The 14-day free trial

New accounts can start a 14-day free trial with **no credit card**. The trial is offered when you pick a plan on the monthly billing option — choosing yearly starts a paid plan straight away.

### What the trial includes

A trial is deliberately small. It's enough to wire up tracking and test the whole flow end to end, not enough to run a real program on.

|                    | During the trial |
| ------------------ | ---------------- |
| Affiliate programs | 1                |
| Affiliates         | 10               |
| Referrals          | 25               |
| Tracked revenue    | \$500            |
| Team seats         | 1                |

Trials include link tracking, fraud protection, refunds handling, manual referral tracking, custom cookie duration, all integrations, data import, recurring commissions, the branded affiliate portal, multi-lingual portal, social media assets, and real-time currency conversion.

Trials do **not** include automated payouts, coupon tracking, marketing assets, commission plans, advanced commission rules, per-affiliate rates, milestones, invoice generation, API access, custom domains, the email builder, or branding removal. Those unlock the moment you start a paid plan.

While you're on a trial, the **Subscription** screen shows a **Free Trial** badge next to your plan name, a **Trial Limits Active** tag over the usage meters, and a banner counting down the days left with a **Start Paid Plan** button.

### What happens when the trial ends

When the 14 days are up, tracking stops at the trial limits and the paid features stay locked until you start a paid plan. Nothing is deleted — your programs, affiliates, links, and referrals all stay exactly where they are and come back as soon as you subscribe.

<Warning>
  A free trial is one per account. If you've already used one, or you have an unpaid invoice outstanding, the buttons show **Start Paid Plan** instead of **Start 14-day free trial** and you'll be asked for a card.
</Warning>

You don't have to wait out the 14 days. Selecting **Start Paid Plan** at any point during the trial ends it immediately and moves you onto the full plan limits.

## What happens when you reach a limit

Referly enforces limits at the moment something is created, and it tells you before the damage is done. What it never does is delete anything you already have.

| Limit reached                 | What happens                                                                                                           |
| ----------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Referrals for the month | New referrals stop being tracked until the first of next month. A red banner appears across the top of your dashboard. |
| Tracked revenue for the month | New sales stop being recorded until the first of next month. A red banner appears across the top of your dashboard. |
| Affiliates | You can't onboard new affiliates. New sign-ups and manual adds are blocked until you upgrade. |
| Affiliate programs | The option to create another program is blocked. |
| Team seats | The invite button changes to "Maximum team size reached" and a **Limit reached** badge appears. |
| Performance bonuses | You're told how many your plan allows and asked to upgrade before creating another. |

<Warning>
  The referral and revenue limits are the two that cost you money, because sales that happen while you're over the limit are not recorded and your affiliates won't be credited for them. If a meter is above about 80%, upgrade before month-end rather than after.
</Warning>

Each banner has an **Upgrade Plan** button that opens the plan picker directly. Upgrading takes effect immediately, and referrals and sales start being tracked again from that moment — but anything missed while you were over the limit isn't backfilled.

## Monthly or yearly

Both options give you identical features and identical limits. The only differences are the price and the commitment.

* **Monthly** — charged every month, cancel any time, and this is the only option that offers the 14-day free trial.
* **Yearly** — charged once for the year at roughly two months' discount. There's no trial on yearly, so you pay up front.

You can switch between them at any time from the plan picker. Switching is treated as a plan change, which means it takes effect immediately and you're invoiced for the difference straight away.

## Add-ons and extras

Two feature bundles are sold separately from the plans. Both are $67 / month, or $673 / year, and both are included at no extra cost on Enterprise. You'll find them in the **Add-ons** card underneath your plan on the **Subscription** screen.

### Engagement add-on

Unlocks the full [Messages](/docs/help-center/engage/messages/overview) experience: message groups, team messaging, embedded content, multiple attachments, and complete message history. Business, Agency, and Enterprise can already open Messages in its basic form; the add-on is what turns it into a real communication channel. Plans below Business need the add-on to use Messages at all.

### Gamification add-on

Bundles [leaderboards](/docs/help-center/gamify/leaderboards/overview), [contests](/docs/help-center/gamify/contests/overview), [performance bonuses](/docs/help-center/gamify/performance-bonuses/overview), unlimited [affiliate milestones](/docs/help-center/gamify/milestones/overview), and content rewards. It also lifts the cap on how many performance bonuses you can run — your plan's limit of 4, 10, or 15 becomes unlimited.

### Marketplace licenses

The [affiliate marketplace](/docs/help-center/grow/marketplace/overview) is licensed per affiliate program and billed separately from your plan. Agency and Enterprise accounts include 150 free marketplace days. See [marketplace licenses](/docs/help-center/grow/marketplace/licenses) for what a license covers.

Full details on buying, changing, and cancelling either add-on are in [add-ons](/docs/help-center/billing/add-ons).

## The Enterprise plan

Enterprise is \$4,788 a year, billed yearly, and it only appears on your pricing screen if your account has been given access to it. It carries the Agency-level limits — 15 affiliate programs, unlimited affiliates, referrals, revenue, and team seats — and adds 15 performance bonuses, 200 influencer invitations, 150 free marketplace days, and both the Engagement and Gamification add-ons at no extra cost.

If you want it and don't see it, contact Referly support and ask for Enterprise to be enabled on your account.

## Change your plan

How you change plans depends on whether you already have an active paid subscription. Both routes start the same way.

### Open the plan picker

<Steps>
  <Step title="Go to your subscription screen">
    Open **Settings** from the left sidebar, go to **Billing**, then select **Subscription**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open the picker">
    Select **Change Plan** under your plan name. A panel slides in from the right headed **Choose your plan**, showing Startup, Business, and Agency side by side.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pick monthly or yearly">
    Use the **Monthly** / **Yearly** toggle at the top. The prices on the cards update as you switch, and a "2 Months Free!" note points at the yearly option.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Your current plan's card shows a greyed-out **Current Plan** button, so you always know where you stand.

### If you already have a paid subscription

Select **Change Plan** on the plan you want. There's no checkout page and no card to re-enter — Referly changes the subscription on the card you already have on file.

The change is immediate in both directions:

* **Upgrading** — the new limits and features apply right away, and you're invoiced immediately for the difference between what you already paid and the new price, calculated to the day.
* **Downgrading** — the lower price applies right away, and the unused portion of what you already paid comes back as a credit on your account, which is applied automatically to your next invoice.

Give it a few seconds and refresh the page. Your plan name, cost, and usage meters will all reflect the new plan.

### If you're on a trial or have no subscription

Select **Start Paid Plan** (or **Start 14-day free trial** if you're eligible and picked monthly). Referly hands you over to Stripe's secure checkout page to collect payment. Stripe is Referly's payment processor — Referly never sees or stores your card details.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Check the summary">
    The left of the Stripe page shows the plan you chose, the price, and how often you'll be charged. Confirm it says what you expect before you go further. If it doesn't, use your browser's back button and pick again.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter your email">
    Type the email address the receipts should go to. Stripe may recognise it and offer to fill in a saved card through Link, its saved-payment service — you can use that or select the option to pay another way.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter your card details">
    Fill in the card number, the expiry date, and the CVC (the 3-digit code on the back of the card, or 4 digits on the front for American Express).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add the cardholder name and country">
    Enter the name exactly as it appears on the card, then choose your country and enter your postal or ZIP code. Some countries also ask for a full billing address.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add your company details if you need them on invoices">
    If Stripe shows a business name or tax ID field, fill it in now. This is what appears on every invoice for this subscription, and it's much easier to set here than to correct later. VAT and other tax IDs go in the tax ID field so they show up correctly on your receipts.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm">
    Select **Subscribe** (or **Start trial**). Your bank may show a verification step — a 3D Secure prompt in your banking app, an SMS code, or a push notification. Approve it. If you dismiss it, the payment fails and you'll need to start again.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Wait for the redirect">
    Stripe sends you back to Referly automatically. Don't close the tab during this step. Your plan can take a few seconds to update — refresh the **Subscription** screen if the old plan is still showing.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Check>
  You're done when the **Subscription** screen shows the new plan name with the billing period next to it, a **Monthly cost** or **Yearly cost** figure, and a **Next payment** date. The **Free Trial** badge disappears.
</Check>

If the payment is declined, Stripe tells you why on the spot. The usual causes are an expired card, insufficient funds, or a bank blocking an unfamiliar international charge — that last one is common and is usually fixed by approving the payment in your banking app and trying again.

## What happens when you downgrade

Downgrading never deletes anything. What it does is lower the ceiling.

* **Data you already have stays.** If you drop from Business to Startup with 600 affiliates on file, all 600 stay, keep their links, and keep earning on existing referrals. You just can't add the 601st until you're back under 400.
* **Programs above the new limit stay too.** They remain visible and keep tracking. You can't create new ones until you're under the limit.
* **Team members above the new seat count keep their access.** Remove people yourself if you want to free the seats up.
* **Features you lose, you lose immediately.** API keys stop working, a custom domain stops resolving to your portal, Referly branding reappears on the affiliate portal, and locked screens show an upgrade prompt in place of the feature.
* **Monthly meters take on the new, lower limits right away.** If you've already tracked more revenue this month than the new plan allows, tracking pauses until the first of next month.

<Warning>
  Downgrading is the one change worth planning. If you rely on a custom domain, the API, or removed branding, your affiliates will see the difference within minutes. Check what you'd be giving up in the feature tables above before you switch.
</Warning>

To cancel altogether rather than downgrade, use **Manage/Cancel Subscription** — that route and what happens afterwards are covered in [manage your subscription](/docs/help-center/billing/subscription).

## Which plan should you choose

### Choose Startup if

You run one or two programs, you're under roughly 400 affiliates, and your affiliates are driving less than \$15,000 a month in sales. You're the only person managing it. You want coupon tracking, automated payouts, marketing assets, and commission plans — but you don't need the API, a custom domain, or your branding removed.

The number that usually forces the move off Startup isn't affiliates, it's the \$15,000 monthly revenue cap. Watch that meter first.

### Choose Business if

Any one of these is true: your affiliates drive more than \$15,000 a month, you have more than 400 affiliates, more than one person needs to log in, or you need something on the customization list — the API, webhooks, a custom domain, your own email sending domain, EU-compliant invoices, per-affiliate commission rates, or Referly branding removed from the portal.

Business is the point where affiliates and referrals become unlimited, so the only remaining ceiling is \$50,000 of tracked revenue a month.

### Choose Agency if

You manage affiliate programs on behalf of clients and want to bill them under your own brand, or you've outgrown the \$50,000 revenue cap. Agency removes every usage limit, gives you unlimited seats, 15 programs, and the ability to white-label the admin dashboard, put it on your own domain, create your own pricing plans, and invoice your clients directly. See [agencies overview](/docs/help-center/agencies/overview) for how client billing works.

### Ask about Enterprise if

You want Agency-scale limits with the Engagement and Gamification add-ons included, plus influencer invitations at volume, and you'd rather pay once a year.
