Coming to Referly from FirstPromoter doesn’t mean rebuilding your program by hand. By connecting your FirstPromoter account, Referly pulls your promoters, the referrals they brought in, and your past commissions straight across — no CSV exports, no file wrangling. You give Referly two values from FirstPromoter, choose what to bring over, and it does the rest in the background. This guide walks through the whole move end to end: getting the two credentials out of FirstPromoter, connecting the account to Referly, choosing exactly which details come across, and running each import in the right order.
New to migrating in general? Start with the Migration overview for how imports work, then come back here for the FirstPromoter-specific steps.

Before you start

You’ll need:
  • Admin access to your FirstPromoter account, so you can create an API key and see your Account ID.
  • Your Referly program open in the dashboard, ready to import into.
  • A few minutes. Larger programs take longer to pull across, but the import runs in the background — you don’t have to wait on the screen.
You’ll bring your data across in three passes — affiliates, then referrals, then sales — because each one builds on the one before it. Keep that order in mind; the last section explains why it matters.
Your FirstPromoter API key grants access to your FirstPromoter data. Treat it like a password: copy it straight into Referly, don’t paste it anywhere public, and don’t share it. Referly stores it securely so you only enter it once.

Get your FirstPromoter API key and Account ID

Referly connects to FirstPromoter using two things from your FirstPromoter account: an API key and an Account ID. You create both inside FirstPromoter, and you only need to do this once.
1

Open your API settings in FirstPromoter

Log in to your FirstPromoter dashboard, then go to Settings, open Integrations, and select Manage API Keys.
2

Create a new API key

Choose Add new Key (if you don’t already have one), give it a descriptive name so you remember what it’s for — for example, Referly import — and create it.
3

Copy the key straight away

FirstPromoter shows your new API key only once, at the moment you create it. Copy it and paste it somewhere safe right away — if you lose it, you’ll need to create a new one.
4

Find your Account ID

Your Account ID is shown in the same Settings → Integrations panel, alongside your API keys. Copy it too — you’ll paste both values into Referly next.
With both values copied, head back to Referly.

Open the import tool and choose FirstPromoter

1

Open the import tool

In your Referly dashboard, select the plus (+) button in the top bar, then choose Import Data. You can also select Import at the top of your Affiliates, Customers, or Sales pages.
2

Pick FirstPromoter as your source

On the Choose your source screen, select FirstPromoter from the list of platforms.

Connect your FirstPromoter account

Referly now shows a connection screen with a FirstPromoter → Referly banner at the top. This is where your two credentials go.
1

Enter your credentials

Paste your FirstPromoter API key into the API key field, and your Account ID into the Account ID field. The API key is hidden as you type, the same way a password field is.
2

Save the connection

Select Save connection. Referly checks the credentials with FirstPromoter as it saves — you’ll briefly see Validating… while it does. If either value is wrong, the connection won’t save, so you can fix it before going any further.
fp-connection-form Once it saves, Referly keeps this as a saved connection you can reuse, so your next imports won’t ask for your credentials again. To swap in different credentials later, select Replace connection.

Choose what to import

After the connection is saved, Referly shows the three kinds of data it can pull from FirstPromoter. Here’s how they line up: You can tick one, two, or all three — but the order you import them matters. Referrals attach to affiliates, and sales attach to customers, so those have to exist in Referly first. Always bring your affiliates over first, then referrals, then sales. See Import in the right order below. fp-select-objects

Pick which details come across

When you tick one of the three, Referly expands it to show every detail it can import for that type. Each detail has a checkbox, so you decide exactly what comes across. A few are marked Required and stay ticked — those are the details Referly needs to create clean records and match them to the right people. Here’s what you can bring across for each type.
  • First name (required) — the promoter’s first name.
  • Last name (required) — the promoter’s last name.
  • Email (required) — the promoter’s email. This is how each affiliate is matched, and how their referrals and sales find them.
  • Full name — the combined name, useful when a promoter has only a single name on file.
  • Join date — when they joined your FirstPromoter program, so their history stays intact.
  • Payout email — the email you send their payouts to, when it’s different from their login email.
  • Affiliate link — their referral link or ref code.
  • Provider affiliate ID — the ID this promoter had in FirstPromoter, handy for cross-referencing later.
  • Provider status — the status they had in FirstPromoter (for example, active or pending).
  • First name (required) — the customer’s first name.
  • Last name (required) — the customer’s last name.
  • Email (required) — the customer’s email.
  • Affiliate email (required) — the email of the promoter who referred the customer. This is what links each customer back to the right affiliate, which is why affiliates must be imported first.
  • Full name — the combined customer name.
  • Join date — when the referral was first created.
  • External user ID — the customer’s identifier on FirstPromoter’s side.
  • Provider customer ID — the referral’s ID in FirstPromoter, kept for your reference.
  • Provider status — the referral’s status in FirstPromoter.
  • Customer email (required) — the email of the customer who made the purchase.
  • Transaction amount (required) — the gross sale amount.
  • Commission (required) — what the affiliate earned on the sale.
  • Customer name — the name of the customer who bought.
  • Affiliate email — the email of the affiliate credited for the sale.
  • Transaction date — when the sale or commission happened.
  • Paid status — whether the commission was already marked paid in FirstPromoter, so your payout history stays right.
  • Promo code — the coupon or promo code used, when there was one.
  • Affiliate link — the referral link tied to the sale.
  • Provider transaction ID — the commission or transaction ID from FirstPromoter, kept for your reference.
  • Provider status — the commission’s status in FirstPromoter.
The default selections cover what most programs want, so if you’re not sure, leaving them as they are is a safe choice. You can always run another import later. When you’re happy with your picks, select Continue.

Check the field matches

Before anything is imported, Referly shows a preview of your FirstPromoter data lined up against the matching Referly fields. This is your chance to confirm everything landed in the right place — that names, emails, and amounts match the fields you’d expect. fp-field-mapping Look the preview over, and when it looks right, confirm to start the import.

Start the import and follow its progress

Imports run in the background, so you can close the panel and keep working. Every import you start appears in the Recent Imports list inside the import tool, each with its own progress. An import moves through these states: Each card shows a progress bar and a running count of how many records came in and how many were skipped. A record is skipped when it’s missing a detail Referly needs — for example, a referral with no customer email, or a commission with no customer attached. That’s normal; the skipped count just tells you those few couldn’t be brought across. fp-import-progress You can pause a running import and resume it later, open Details for the full breakdown, or delete one you no longer need.

Import in the right order

Each type of data leans on the one before it: referrals attach to the affiliate who referred them, and sales attach to those affiliates and customers. If you import out of order, there’s nothing yet for the later records to link to. Always go in this order, and let each finish before starting the next:
1

Affiliates first

Bring your promoters in, so there’s an affiliate for every referral and sale to attach to.
2

Referrals next

Import the referred customers. Each one links to its affiliate by email — which only works once those affiliates are already in.
3

Sales last

Import your commissions, credited to the right affiliates and matched to their customers.
Referly won’t let you start a referral or sales import while the affiliate import it depends on is still running. Since your FirstPromoter connection is saved, each round just means reopening the import tool, picking FirstPromoter, and choosing the next object.
Check each import’s results — the imported and skipped counts — before moving on to the next type. Getting your affiliates in cleanly first means your referrals and sales attach to the right partners automatically.
