Referly imports from Refersion by CSV. There is no direct Refersion connector, so step two is a real export: Manage, then Affiliates, then Export, and Refersion emails you the file. Map the columns, run the import, and affiliates arrive with their codes, rates and join dates. Commission structures are rebuilt by hand. Migration is free on every plan.

Plan your move

What the percentage costs you

Refersion charges 3% of affiliate-driven sales on Launch and 2% on Growth, on top of the subscription, with no upper bound. Their own pricing page puts it fairly: you are charged on affiliate-driven sales, not total store revenue. Put your real number in and see what the percentage alone comes to.

Past the free tier the percentage takes over: at $6,000/mo referred, UpPromote's cheapest paid fit bills $150. Unlike a flat plan, that number keeps climbing with your revenue.

Before you start

What comes across, and what doesn't

A CSV migration moves less automatically than an API one, and it is worth being clear about which is which.

Comes across

Affiliates and their details

Refersion's export carries emails, statuses, addresses and their Refersion IDs. Names, emails and payout emails all map.

Comes across

Referral codes and links

Map the link column and tell the importer which parameter holds the code. Get that mapping right and the codes survive intact.

Comes across

Per-affiliate commission rates

Mapped from the rate column into per-affiliate overrides rather than flattened to one program rate.

Comes across

Customers and conversion history

A second and third CSV. They import with their original dates, and anything already paid arrives marked paid so nobody is paid twice.

Partly

Paid payouts

Sales you import can carry their paid status, so nobody is paid twice. The payout records themselves stay behind.

Partly

Unpaid commissions

Import them marked unpaid and pay from Referly, or pay them out of Refersion first.

Partly

Coupon codes

The codes import. Whether they work at checkout depends on re-minting them on your store, which Referly can do during the import.

Stays behind

Offers and commission structures

Refersion's offers have no import target. Rebuilt as Referly commission plans with rule groups, which cover the same ground in a different shape.

Stays behind

The historic click log

Not importable from any tool. Click and conversion-rate charts start on cutover day.

Stays behind

Your Refersion Marketplace listing

It stays with them. Referly has its own marketplace, which is a separate licence rather than something the migration carries over.

Commission structures are rebuilt by hand on every migration, from every tool, including this one. On a CSV migration the mapping step matters more than usual: get the link column right and everything downstream is easier.

Step 1

Where the Refersion export lives

This is the one migration in the set with a genuine export step rather than an API key, so budget a few minutes of waiting for the email.

Refersion emails the export rather than downloading it in the browser, so build a few minutes of waiting into your plan. Budget more time for this step than for the API-connected tools.

In Refersion

Manage → Affiliates → Export, top right of the affiliate list

Copy a CSV of affiliates with emails, statuses, addresses and their Refersion IDs.

What you get

None. There is no Refersion importer in Referly, so this is a file, not a connection.

The migration

Four steps, about a day

Longer than the API migrations, because a CSV round trip is a round trip.

1Scope and plan

~30 min

List your campaigns, commission rules and open payouts. Decide what happens to commissions accrued but not yet paid.

2Export and map

~2 hours

Export your affiliates from Refersion as CSV. Referly's CSV importer maps affiliates, their referral links and their commission rates.

3Configure and import

~1.5 hours

Recreate your commission plans in Referly, run the import, and swap the tracking script and the payment connection.

4Verify and go live

3 to 7 days overlap

Run both in parallel, compare attributed sales daily, then switch off Refersion.

The part that trips ecommerce migrations

Coupon codes that actually exist on the store

A code recorded in your affiliate tool and a code that works at checkout are two different things, and a migration is where that difference shows up. During the import Referly can create each affiliate's code on the connected store itself rather than only logging it, so a customer typing MAYA15 gets the discount and Maya gets the sale. It can also pull codes that already exist on the store instead of minting new ones, which is usually what you want when the codes are already in the wild.

  • Create new codes on Shopify, Stripe, WooCommerce or Polar during the import
  • Or import the codes already on your store and bind them to the right affiliate
  • Percentage or flat discounts, generated from the CSV's own discount column

Automatic coupon generation is on Business and above. Coupon tracking itself is on every plan, including Startup.

Both sides, one program. A SaaS subscription in Stripe and a store order in Shopify pay the same affiliate, from the same commission plan, into the same payout.

If you are not only a store

Refersion is ecommerce-first. Referly holds both sides.

Refersion tracks Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, Magento and a Stripe install, and for a pure store that is a good list. If you have added a subscription, a course, a membership or an app alongside the store, the program stops being one program. Referly tracks store orders and recurring subscriptions on the same roster, with the same commission plan and the same payout run.

  • Shopify and Stripe both connect by OAuth, in a click each
  • WooCommerce, Paddle, Chargebee and Polar alongside them
  • One affiliate, paid from wherever the money actually arrives

If the mapping was wrong

A CSV import you can undo

The risk on a CSV migration is a bad column mapping, and it usually announces itself about an hour later. Every import is a job that records what it created, so you delete the job, tick the box that removes its records, and the program goes back to exactly where it was. Then you fix the mapping and run it again. This is the reason a CSV migration is not the gamble it sounds like.

  • Pause and resume a running import
  • Per-record errors, so a bad row is visible rather than silently dropped
  • Delete the job with or without the records it created

Last step

Cancelling Refersion

Export a copy of everything before you press it. Affiliates, offers, coupon codes and conversion history, as CSV. You will already have most of this from the migration itself, which is a small mercy of the CSV route.

Cancel from your Refersion account settings once the overlap has finished and both dashboards agree on attributed sales.

Check the Shopify side too. If Refersion installed an app or a script on your store, removing it is a separate step from cancelling the subscription, and leaving both trackers running is how a sale ends up attributed twice.

Migration help

We will map the CSV with you

Migration is free on every plan, and on a CSV move the mapping is where the value is. Send the export and we will tell you which column becomes which field, which parameter holds the referral code, and what to do about the coupons.

Managed, done-for-you migration is part of Enterprise and the agency plans rather than every tier. For context: Trackdesk includes migration and implementation assistance from its $329 Business plan.

  • No. Referly ships direct API importers for eight tools and Refersion is not one of them, so this migration is a CSV export and a column mapping. Everything else about it is the same, and it is still free on every plan.
