The meter

Dub meters on payouts, which is the one number that grows with success

Two constraints on the same axis: a cap on how much you can pay out, and a fee on all of it.

Dub is link infrastructure first, and Dub Partners rides on its conversion tracking. The meters follow: links, tracked events, partners and partner payouts. Business at $90/mo covers $2,500/mo in payouts, which at a 20% commission rate is reached at $12,500/mo in affiliate revenue.

On top of the subscription sits a 5% fee on partner payouts, 3% on Enterprise. At $2,000/mo in payouts that is $100, more than the $90 plan itself. The fee is charged on money leaving your account to your partners, which is the number that rises fastest when a program works.

The fees on top

The fee is on payouts, which makes it grow with the thing you want to grow.

5% payout fee (3% on Enterprise)

$100/mo on $2,000 of payouts; $750 on $15,000

Charged on partner payouts on Business and Advanced, falling to 3% on Enterprise. At the entry plan the fee exceeds the subscription at anything above $1,800/mo in payouts.

Payout caps per plan

$2,500/mo on Business, $15,000 on Advanced

Not a fee, but it behaves like one: crossing $2,500/mo in partner payouts moves you from the $90 plan to the $300 plan, a jump of more than 3x for the same program.

No fee on sales

$0

Dub takes no percentage of your revenue. The 5% is specifically on payouts to partners, a narrower base than a sales fee, and worth distinguishing clearly.

Referly's own fees, in the same format: 0% transaction fee on every plan, meaning no cut of sales, affiliate revenue or commission volume. Two optional charges do carry a percentage and neither is a transaction fee: agency client billing at 5% / 2.5% / 1%, only if an agency invoices its clients through Referly, and Referly Payouts at 5% bank/ACH and 8% card, only if you use the managed payout rail.

Referly gates things too, and on the same basis: automated payouts, EU self-billing invoices, W-9/W-8 collection and the custom portal domain all start on Business at $149. Coupon tracking and link tracking are on every plan, and sub-affiliate tiers are 2 levels, not unlimited.

Is Dub worth the money?

Dub is good value if

  • You already run Dub for link management and Partners is an add-on, not a purchase
  • You want the best API and developer experience in this category, which Dub has
  • Your partner payouts sit well under $2,500/mo so the cap never bites
  • Open-source and self-hostable infrastructure matters to your stack

It stops being good value when

  • Partner payouts pass $2,500/mo and the plan triples from $90 to $300
  • The 5% fee overtakes the subscription, which happens at $1,800/mo in payouts
  • You need affiliate software rather than a link platform with a partners module
  • You want tax forms or EU invoicing, neither of which is stated

Referly is $75/mo with a 0% transaction fee and no cap on what you pay out. The cap is on affiliate revenue, at $10,000/mo on Startup and $30,000 on Business. Payouts run through PayPal, Wise or your own rail with no percentage attached, and W-9/W-8 collection starts on Business.

Referly is $66/mo less at this size, which is $792 over a year.

Dub's plan is chosen by payout volume rather than revenue, so the commission-rate slider moves their bill more than the revenue slider does. Link and event caps are not modelled.

At $10,000/mo in affiliate revenue with 200 affiliates and a 20% commission, Dub comes to $190/mo on Business and Referly to $75/mo on Startup. Drag the sliders to your own numbers.
