Overview
Referly and Ecwid
Connect your Ecwid ecommerce store to Referly
Running more than one platform? They all feed one ledger, so partners get a single link, a single balance and a single payout.
What connects
What Referly tracks in Ecwid
Fourteen things, each one read from what Ecwid reports rather than from a feature list. The two chips below are the short answer.
What it does
- YesReferral tracking — The app injects the tracking script on your storefront, so a click is recorded the moment a visitor lands, before any purchase.
- YesSale tracking — Every completed payment arrives as a sale with its amount, products and currency, and a commission is calculated from it.
- YesRefunds reverse the commission — Refunds, cancellations and deleted orders all claw the commission back automatically. A partial refund reverses the full commission, not a share of it.
- YesCoupon-code attribution — A customer who types a partner's discount code at checkout is attributed to that partner, with no link click and no cookie involved.
- YesA discount code per partner — Codes are created in Ecwid when a partner joins. Redemption caps are single-use or unlimited; a cap above one is enforced in Referly's reporting, not at checkout.
- YesPer-product commission rules — Referly reads your product catalogue, so a rule can pay one rate on one product and a different rate on another.
- YesCommission net of tax — Tax is subtracted before the commission is calculated, so you are not paying a percentage of money that belongs to a tax authority. On by default, and switchable.
- YesCommission net of shipping — The webhook reads the shipping amount on the order and deducts it before the rate is applied.
- YesConnects without a developer — Installs from the Ecwid App Market. Nothing is pasted into your storefront or checkout.
- YesConnect from the dashboard — Install the app, then claim the store in Referly with one click.
- YesCarries your own click id — An `rsubID` on the inbound link travels all the way to the sale, so an ad platform or a network can match the conversion back to its own click.
What it does not, or only sometimes
- With a conditionRecurring commissions on renewalsEach subscription charge arrives as its own order and is tracked as a renewal. Ecwid sends no cancellation signal, so a lapsed subscriber simply stops producing sales.
- NoCollection-level rules — Target a whole collection instead of listing its products one by one, and new products in that collection inherit the rate.
- NoPay partners in store creditEcwid has no store-credit API. A payout can be issued as a single-use Ecwid discount coupon instead.
- NoSyncs partners into a list — Partners are added to a named list or group in your email platform as they join, so onboarding and announcements go out from the tool you already write in.
- NoPays partners through it — Money actually leaves through this platform. Referly hands it the batch, and it moves the funds to each partner.
- NoPays everyone in one batch — One approval sends every partner what they are owed, rather than one transfer at a time.
Setup
Connect Ecwid in four steps
Four steps, in order. The honest note underneath says which of them need someone technical and what the connection does not do.
- 1
Install the Referly app from the Ecwid App Market
Approve the permissions. The app registers the webhooks and injects the tracking script on your storefront for you.
- 2
Pick the affiliate program to connect the store to
One click in Referly. A store with a single program connects automatically.
- 3
Place a test order
It appears in Referly with the referral, coupon code and totals attached, and a refund claws the commission back.
- 4
Set your commission and invite partners
Pick a rate, choose whether partners get a coupon code, then send your first invites.
Three things worth knowing. The click id is stored on the order as refererId, so it shows up on your own order exports and invoices. Ecwid sends no subscription-cancel signal, so each charge is tracked as a renewal and a lapsed subscriber simply stops producing sales. And Ecwid coupon caps are single-use or unlimited only; a redemption limit above one is enforced in Referly's reporting, not at checkout.

Both. The app injects the tracking script on your storefront, so a click is recorded the moment a visitor lands, before any purchase. When an order comes in, Ecwid's webhook reports it and the sale is matched to that click, or to a partner's coupon code.
